Utah Department of Environmental Quality<\/h2>\n

The mission of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is Safeguarding and improving Utah\u2019s air, land and water through balanced regulation.<\/p>\n

The Division of Drinking Water (DDW) administers two financial assistance programs<\/a>. Each program has its own unique set of criteria and requirements but utilizes a new combined application form.<\/p>\n

State SRF Program <\/strong>Created by the Utah State Legislature in 1984 and governed by the Water Development Coordinating Council (Title 73, Chapter 10c of the Utah Code). It is a State-funded program. Only political subdivisions (e.g., cities, towns, districts, etc.) are eligible for State SRF funds.<\/p>\n

Federal SRF Program <\/strong>Created under the 1996 amendments to the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Most of the funds in this program originate from the federal government. Federal SRF funds are available for privately and publicly owned community water systems and nonprofit non-community water systems.<\/p>\n

The Utah Division of Water Quality\u2019s (DWQ) Clean Water State Revolving Fund Loan Program (SRF)<\/a> on average, receives a combined $9 million dollars a year from State and Federal funding and, on average, an additional $15 million in funding each year from loan repayments. This money is to be used to fund water quality and wastewater infrastructure projects in Utah.<\/p>\n
