The Drinking Water Program is the Lead Administrator and is responsible for project management and technical support, as well as overseeing activities. The MMBB is the Financial Administrator and oversees the loan application process and tracks money to and from the fund.<\/p>\n<p>A portion of the federal grant is set aside each year from the revolving project loan fund and used for non-project activities. Those activities include source water protection programs, technical assistance to small systems, a revolving loan fund for land acquisitions, system planning grants and wellhead protection grants.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"color: #0c6890; text-align: left;\">Maine Division of Environmental and Community Health<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/dhhs\/divisions.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-elementor-open-lightbox=\"\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/swefcsrfswitchboard.unm.edu\/srf\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/maine.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"207\" \/> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is responsible for protecting and restoring Maine&#8217;s natural resources and enforcing the state&#8217;s environmental laws.<\/p>\n<p>Legislative mandate directs DEP to prevent, abate and control the pollution of the air, water and land. The charge is to preserve, improve and prevent diminution of the natural environment of the State. The Department is also directed to protect and enhance the public&#8217;s right to use and enjoy the State&#8217;s natural resources. The Department administers programs, educates and makes regulatory decisions that contribute to the achievement of this mission.<\/p>\n<p>State law gives the DEP flexibility, through the <a style=\"color: #0c6890;
