With the passage of LB302, on July 1, 2019, the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality and the Nebraska Energy Office merged into the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy. Our mission is to protect, preserve and enhance Nebraska’s Air, Land, Water, and Energy resources.The Nebraska Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund (DWSRF) program provides low interest loans and loan forgiveness to owners of public drinking water systems. The loan principal repayments go into new loans and interest earnings on the Fund is used 1) to pay off the state match bond issues and 2) to make new loans. An agreement between NDEQ and NHHS, effective Oct. 30, 1997, defined the authority of the two agencies in administering the program.The Nebraska Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund (CWSRF) program provides low interest loans and small community matching grants to municipalities for construction of wastewater treatment facilities and sanitary sewer collection systems to alleviate public health and environmental problems. The loan principal repayments go into new loans and interest earnings on the Fund is used 1) to pay off the state match bond issues and 2) to make new loans.
